Hi folks!
We’ve been spending quite a bit of time deliberating on how we could use our studio space in Ubi more to grow a connected community of nature and art lovers.
While our work currently involves a lot of workshops and people engagements, given time limitation during such sessions, information often has to be condensed into bite-sized bits. This also feels a little antagonistic to the idea of practice and making things in general which is inherently a slow process.
Through forming this Masak-masak study group, we hope to create meaningful and pocket-friendly events through a paid membership model that enables more casual and educational social events surrounding natural materials, plants and artmaking. We also hope to connect like-minded folks interested in more consistent and meaningful practice of working with the environment around us.
We are currently collecting interest for this study group idea. If you are keen for be a part of this group, please register your interest here.
Details on our monthly paid membership ($15 SGD/month)
Our membership starts at $15 per month.
The cost would greatly help us in maintaining the studio as well as covering logistical costs for our events, and to make this more sustainable for ourselves.
For now, we plan to host these sessions in small groups and hope to review these numbers in time as we observe this initiative.
Physical Space Offerings:
[Free event] Monthly Masak-masak Study Session
We are opening our studio space in Ubi to form a study group on one of the Saturday/Sunday mornings of every month where we explore working with locally-available materials for making. While we will be working with colour pigments, it will also involve other activities of working with different plants, such as processing fibres for papers, brushes or even looking into making of coconut bowls, etc.
[Free event] Occasional Community Gardening/Harvesting/Makan together
Harvesting, caring and also cooking up plants that we have in our space. This is ideal for learning how to work some basic gardening care and having a space to exercise those green fingers!
[Discount] 5% off our Wild Dot Workshops
Being a paid member gives you a discount on our future workshops!
[Space Rental] Studio usage for practice
We would also like to offer our studio space for developing personal practice - it could be from mulling your own colours/paints for your own use or working on your own minor woodworking projects for a token fee.
This is intended for individuals who would like a space practice in natural pigments or nature inspired projects and would like some equipment accessible at a nominal fee. More details of these to be accessed in our Telegram group chat.
